This is my entry for a challenge held by dA artist =aksdareflection with the topic being "Idea" Another angle of the same idea can be seen here [link]

-Concept: I wanted to convey the message that a new roll of film is a blank canvas awaiting new ideas and that photography is like painting your ideas on film. Another idea is that for me, film is inspiration for new ideas, or a way to reinvent old ones, depending on how i want to portray it through the lens.
-Execution: I wanted the image to be simple and open for interpretation. At first I was going to have a bunch of objects that appeared to be spilling out of the lens, an idea I'm still toying with, but in the early stages it looked cluttered. After digging through some my closet to replace items in the image I found my old set of paint brushes and paint, that's when this idea popped into my head. I really would have liked to have taken the shot from behind the camera, with the film in view, but since the camera is a digital, you would have been able to see the film taped to the back. So I settled for an overhead perspective, which still keeps the image simple, maybe a little less interesting than a view from behind the camera, but continues to convey the meaning none-the-less. I felt that using a plain white floor/background would emphasize the idea that film is blank until you paint your ideas on it.
-My Experience: I don't know too much about conceptual photography. For awhile I thought I did, but realized I was no where close. This challenge definitely opened up my eyes to so many new ideas that I can't wait to work on.

I must say, this is a lot different then what I had originally planned. While thinking about my idea, I kept coming up with more and more conceptual ideas for other pictures. So be on the look out for more pictures soon!
