FIRST OFF: BE PATIENT! It takes a minute or so to load, sorry so long :( But I bet it's worth it ;)

The sound you hear is something new that I'm trying. I'm not claiming that this is my own idea. I know I've seen it done somewhere before, but I've always wanted to add ambiance to a photograph, and I finally had the chance to, so here it is!

This is Ely Cathedral in England. Being in a place like this is just amazing. Once hearing the sound of the choir echo through the cathedral, I knew I had to put it on the picture somehow. I hope you like! I might do something like this more often if you do ;)

:D I know, I did read your comments. =P
The one time I went there we weren't allowed in while the choir was singing, so this is great.

SNEAK!

HDR rocks...

Its a wonderful technology... without that, you would have the windows totally overblown! Especially in churches... when you were going to photograph those mosaic-windows, you loose all the detail in a splash of light, unless you use HDR...

Ha this is one that I had to pay to get permission to take pictures in. Yea I've found so many uses for HDR, even if it's barely used. I love the detail I get :D ...and not having to worry about overblown skies or underexposed foregrounds ;)

Yes, true, thats the great thing about HDR...

Well, for photographs at least.

Actually, the photographs are still pretty new to HDR and sorta "borrowed" this technology from the 3D-Guys (like i am, too).

HDR was a technology developed for / by the 3D industry, originally.
To put it short: We use HDR Spherical environments as an environment map to create realistic reflections and, even more important, use the floating point information to create realistic lighting for 3D Scenes. thats what it as originally invented for. But its just cool that photographs and photoeditor discovered this technology and used it for themselves =)

Yeah, and go Photographers as well!

Hey, if you want to read a lil more about it, you might want to visit this link:

Its the homepage of Paul Debevec, who did some really awesome pioneering work when it comes to HDR.

I like the colors on this version of this shot more than the others ... didn't you have like a warmer toned and a cooler toned version, or am I totally imagining that? Anyway, this is great with all the HDR detail (which I'm still completely jealous about, and could totally probably pull off with the camera I have but just don't have the time and energy to try) and your composition, despite being common for cathedral shots like this, is nevertheless interesting in its own right. Most definitely a great HDR shot!

the other ones you're thinking about were of a different cathedral, so you're not completely imagining it ;) The only real reason why I uploaded this one is because of the ambience that I put with it. It's something I've always wanted to try, so I finally had the chance and did it :)

I'm glad you like it

ooh, different building, got it. Well, like I said, the compositions of those types of shots are all sort of similar ... so darnit, that's my excuse. I do really like the atmosphere of this shot, it's calming almost. I think it's the great mellowed yellow tones in the floor and alter mixed with the subtle grays of the walls.

I'll stop with my praise now ... needless to say, it's good. :D
